Rev Gregory Grant
Gregory was born in 1951 and ordained for the diocese of
Clifton in 1977. Following four years with the Catholic Missionary
Society, in 1988 Gregory was appointed as parish priest of St Patrick's
Church, Redfield, Bristol. The church, parish hall and priest's house
were all in a severe state of deterioration. The parish was in debt and
unable to maintain itself on its total annual income. The congregation
numbered 200 members attending on a weekly basis.
Six years later the parish completed a £2.25 million
redevelopment project in partnership with both voluntary help and
business enterprise. A new church, 22 retirement flats, convent,
restaurant, priest's house, offices, parish centre and new school
facilities have now been enjoyed for several years. Only £500,000 debt
remains, serviced by an annual income of £120,000. There are now 500
members in the congregation at St Patrick's church each week.
During this period Gregory together with his brother and
a family friend, Ken Nolan, established Riversway Care Ltd, a company
for the construction and operation of nursing homes. This company
created a 66-bed luxury nursing home within the parish and has embarked
on a 22-bed extension. Rev. Grant is a Director of Riversway Care Ltd.
In 1998 Gregory and Peter founded the P G Group. They
both believed it was possible to transpose best business practice into
parish life and best spiritual practice into business activities.
Collaboration and partnership operate successfully in all aspects of
life
