Fundraising events in 2004

A DATE with Daniel O’Donnell helped raise more than £10,000 for four Bristol charities at the inaugural Buddy Ball.

The chance to meet the Irish singing superstar at his Bristol concert went under the hammer for £400 at the event on 3rd July. Daniel will be a Patron of the Ball in the future.

A total of 220 guests attended the Buddy Ball at Jurys Hotel, Prince Street, and it  was such a success that some guests booked again for next year—2nd July 2005.

Investors and supporters of  The PG Group supplied many of the raffle and auction prizes.

Good causes which benefited  are the Bristol Evening Post One in Four campaign, The Lord Mayor’s Christmas Charity, Babe’s Big Appeal for a new childrens’ hospice and the Little Sisters of the Poor in Cotham.

Thank you to everyone for your support of a really great evening and we hope to see you all next year as well.

Corporate Golf Day

A golf day in aid of the BEP One in Four Campaign raised £500 for the charity. The day was organised by the PG Group and was the latest in a series of fundraising events for the Campaign.

A total of 40 golfers met at The Gloucestershire, The Tracy Park Estate, near Bristol, in September, with the first team prize being taken by Optimum Outlook. Runners up were The Guildford Hackers/Monitoring Excellence. Steve Millier of architects Scott Brownrigg was doubly successful, picking up both prizes for nearest the pin.

Prizes were sponsored by Averys Wine Cellar, Knight Frank, Scott Brownrigg, The Gloucestershire and Martin & Galpin.

Ian Walker, managing director, said: “This was our first corporate golf day and we were delighted with the support given to it. We are now looking forward to  next year’s event.”

Marathon runners

A team of  six runners from the PG Group who took part in the Bristol Half Marathon in September in aid of the BEP One in Four campaign raised a further £920 for the charity.

Congratulations to the team — Ian Mooney, project manager, and his wife, Lesley; Fiona Grant  and her friend, Dave McNeill; Tom Marshall and Ann Finan, PG’s receptionist.

Ian, Ann and Lesley have already booked places for the Bath Half Marathon in March in aid of the Grant Bradley Charitable Trust.
